Radio Data Systems Effective date: 29 September 2026 Last updated: 29 September 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Radio Data Systems (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with our websites, station console, and mobile applications, including RDS Studio Monitor for Android (package com.radiodatasystem.studiomonitor) and related Radio Data Systems products (together, the “Services”).
Who we are
Radio Data Systems provides software for radio station RDS / RadioText operations and studio monitoring. Our public site is https://radiodatasystem.com/.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may process:
Account and station credentials you enter to sign in to a station console or Studio Link (for example username, password, station identifier, and connection settings). These are used to authenticate you to your station’s systems.
Operational / monitoring data shown by Studio Monitor (for example on-air PS/RT text, link status, and related station telemetry). This content is supplied by your station’s Radio Data Systems deployment; we do not sell it.
Device and technical data such as app version, operating system version, and basic diagnostic logs needed to keep the app working.
Support communications if you email us (your email address and the content of the message).
RDS Studio Monitor is an operator tool for station staff. It is not directed at children.
How we use information
To provide, operate, and secure the Services (sign-in, live monitoring, configuration).
To diagnose faults and improve reliability.
To respond to support requests.
To comply with law where required.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use the Studio Monitor app to show third-party advertising.
Storage and sharing
Station console data is hosted on the infrastructure that serves your Radio Data Systems deployment (including servers we operate for the product).
Credentials and session tokens stay on your device or your station’s servers as needed for sign-in; we do not share them with advertisers.
App distribution and crash/analytics signals may be processed by Google Play / Google as described in Google’s policies when you install from Play.
We may share information with service providers who host or secure our infrastructure, only as needed to run the Services, or when required by law.
Data retention
We keep account, configuration, and operational records for as long as your station uses the Services and for a reasonable period afterward for backups, security, and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete account-related data we control by contacting us (station-owned content may also need action by your station administrator).
Security
We use industry-standard measures appropriate to the Services (HTTPS, access controls, and host security). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices
You can stop using the app and uninstall it at any time.
You can change or clear saved station credentials in the app settings where available.
You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, subject to legal limits and station-admin control of station data.
International users
Our infrastructure may be located in South Africa or other regions. If you use the Services from another country, you understand that information may be processed in the country where the servers are hosted.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
